On June 8, 2011, as part of the 23rd German Assembly Congress, J.Schmalz received the award for the “Best Assembly Idea 2011”. Schmalz was very proud to accept its first award in the area of production.
The prize was awarded for a particularly innovative solution which leads to sustainable improvements in efficiency and working conditions. The vacuum specialist received the award for our “Pick-by-Shutter” assembly workstation. This workstation is used to assemble ejectors from individual components. The workstation is equipped with small gates that open or close based on the product variant. This principle prevents the wrong components from being removed, reduces search times to a minimum and supports the “zero set-up time” principle.
“This award really motivates us and affirms our conviction that economic production can take place on-site in Germany,” said Wolfgang Schmalz during the award ceremony held by the Institute for Machine Tools and Industrial Management (iwb) of the Technical University of Munich. Through continuous process improvement in the company, employees are able to actively help design processes.
“Experience and expertise are our most valuable assets. We implement many ideas as part of our
continuous improvement process. Both the company and its employees profit from this,” says Dr. Kurt
Schmalz. Thanks again to everyone who contributed to this success!
