Hard-Working, Heavy Lifting: New Chain Hoists from Schmalz

Vacuum specialist Schmalz has now expanded its program to include, for the first time, its own chain hoists, the Schmalz chain hoist SCH series – offering robust hoists for load ranges of 80 kg to 2,000 kg.

When designing ergonomic handling solutions, Schmalz aims for the perfect balance between crane, hoist and load-bearing devices. After successfully introducing crane systems in 2008, Schmalz has now developed its own chain hoist series for its vacuum lifting devices.


With only two drive groups, the series has a modular design that covers the entire load range from 80 kg to 2,000 kg. While the SCH-500 chain hoist is designed for loads weighing up to 1,000 kg, the SCH-1000 chain hoist is used for loads weighing 1,000 kg or more in standard applications and loads weighing 500 kg or more in particularly hard applications. Both chain hoists can easily be set for lighter loads and can be converted to a variable stroke length differing from the standard stroke of 3,000 mm. The user also has a choice of drives: versions with either a dual-speed drive (two lift speeds) or a frequency-controlled drive (continuously adjustable lift speed) are available.
What they share is their compact-robust design: the aluminum die-cast housing with cooling fins and a gear limit switch as standard give the SCH chain hoists their high stability and long service life, even under extreme use. The gear unit’s helical gearing operates extremely quietly. The Schmalz chain hoists satisfy the high standards of operational safety as well. Three things make this possible: a low control voltage of 42 V, an optimized connection between sliding clutch and brake, and an emergency-stop function. In addition to the trusted Schmalz quality, a two-year warranty provides economic security.

The SCH chain hoists are available immediately for various voltage ranges with a grid frequency of 50 Hz or 60 Hz. This also makes them suitable for international use, especially since they are technically designed to comply with CSA (US) and UR standards. The chain hoists are delivered ready-to-connect and can be installed quickly and easily using plug-and-play. The supplied button supports the exact positioning of the load without damaging the workpiece and can be easily attached to all basic Schmalz lifting devices.
