The new light-weight ejector SBP-C with teachable vacuum switch

With the basic ejectors of the series Schmalz Base Pump (SBP), the vacuum technology specialist J. Schmalz GmbH in D-72293 Glatten offers lightweight and powerful modules for the economic generation of vacuum. The housing of the Schmalz Base Pump is made from robust plastic material, is very compact and is very light. Designed as single-stage vacuum generators, the basic ejectors are available in six different power ratings with nozzle diameters from 0.5 mm to 2.5 mm. The compressed-air and vacuum lines can be connected quickly and easily with the aid of push-in quick-action connectors or with threaded connectors. The low weight, the ease of connection and the fast and reliable suction capacity make these ejectors the ideal power components in dynamic gripping systems.

In the basic ejector variant SBP-C, the above-mentioned technical and performance benefits are supplemented by further functions. One of these is the vacuum sensor, which offers various system-interrogation options and thus supports the overall process reliability. The SBP-C series of basic ejectors has now been extended with the variant SBP-C with vacuum switch. Instead of a vacuum switch with a preset threshold, this basic ejector is equipped with a teachable vacuum switch. Just like the basic ejectors with plastic housings, this variant is characterised by its small size and low weight. But the highlight is the integrated teach function, with which the switching points can be set quickly and easily with the aid of a button to match the requirements of the application. Furthermore, the current status of the vacuum system can be monitored with the aid of a two-colour LED, permitting quick and reliable correction of the vacuum value if this should become necessary.

The combination of the SBP-C with a teachable vacuum switch save space and weight and is thus ideal for use in extremely dynamic handling systems. It is also possible to mount several of such ejectors on a common base plate to form a so-called ejector block which can be controlled locally or from a central location. The two digital outputs on the vacuum switch also reduce the amount of wiring required and make installation faster, easier and cheaper. In addition, the short reaction times during gripping and blowing off permit more dynamic operation and shorter cycle times, which means that the handling productivity can be increased.
