Vacuum Specialist Schmalz Sitting Well

Schmalz is responding to the current economic market conditions by making future-oriented investments and developing product innovations. “Right now targeted customer orientations, short reaction times and innovate products are what matters,” say the managing directors Dr. Kurt Schmalz and Wolfgang Schmalz.

Schmalz is intensifying its focus on growing industries such as packaging, solar and wind power while providing innovative solutions using vacuum technology for handling delicate workpieces, such as wafers, or larger workpieces, such as rotor blades. Showcasing its progressive solutions, Schmalz attended the leading trade fairs in these industries, including the PVSEC solar trade fair in Hamburg, the Motek automation technology trade fair in Stuttgart and the Fachpack packaging trade fair in Nuremberg. At the same time Schmalz continues to focus on developing efficient products and new technologies. For example, the newly developed and energy-efficient SMPi vacuum generator is equipped with state-of-the-art IO link technology. In addition, the integrated energy-saving function interrupts vacuum generation as soon as a safe vacuum value has been reached. Not only does the customer benefit from short set-up times, greater productivity and simplified servicing, the customer will also enjoy the advantages of lower energy consumption and, with it, minimal operating costs.

The strong power of innovation is a defining characteristic of the vacuum specialist. To maintain this high level, Schmalz recognises its permanent staff as a valuable resource for comprehensive know-how. “The knowledge, experience and dedication of our employees are our strengths. This is why it is our distinct goal to keep all permanent employees on board. Together we can emerge from this crisis stronger than we were before,” says Dr. Kurt Schmalz. The current sluggish market conditions forced Schmalz to respond quickly and take internal measures. “We thank all employees for their willingness and acceptance in implementing the current personnel measures,” continues Dr. Schmalz. Our company has adapted the costs of the current situation, while ensuring lasting job security of the entire permanent staff.

Schmalz invests in the future in other areas as well. With a newly established production facility, our company now has 10,000 m² more area. The full manufacture and assembly of all Schmalz products will take place in the new building complex at a connected facility. “Schmalz has grown incredibly in recent years. The new production area provides the necessary requirements for establishing efficient and cost-effective process flows. Short delivery times are important to us. The new facility allows us to continue ensuring them,” remarks Wolfgang Schmalz. The heart of the facility is the high-rack storage area, which automates internal logistic processes and makes them tremendously efficient. With this investment, Schmalz will have adequate production area in the upcoming years to meet any challenge of the future.
