With two Schmalz anniversary events and a number of meetings with international partners, June has been an exciting month for the J. Schmalz GmbH.
Ceremony for the 100-Year Company Anniversary
-
- International guests were invited to the ceremony for the 100-year company anniversary
The ceremony was held on Friday June 18, 2010 for an audience of guests invited to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the company. In addition to the international sales partners, selected customers were invited and business partners as well as representatives from the political and economic arenas. The program began in the afternoon with guided tours through the production facility and the new historical exhibition of Schmalz. Guests were then shown to cold storage building. After a greeting by the company management and a historical retrospective by Dr. Rainer Lächele, the guests were greeted by Tanja Gönner, Germany’s Minister of the Environment, among others. Mayor Tore-Derek Pfeifer presented the Schmalz brothers with a street name in the community of Glatten: “Dammkronenstraße” will henceforth be referred to as “Johannes-Schmalz-Straße”.
Then, the program was rounded off with a number of different musical performances. At the end of the ceremony, the guests were treated to the diverse offerings of the buffet. Guests stayed until after midnight and took advantage of the relaxed atmosphere to talk amongst themselves and share experiences.
Schmalz Family Day
-
- Numerous stations offered information alongside the opportunity to participate in activities
On June 19, 2010, the families, friends and acquaintances of Schmalz employees were invited as well as the community of Glatten and its surrounding area to come help Schmalz celebrate this special anniversary. In spite of the rainy weather, over 2,000 visitors came who were interested in learning more about the company and celebrating its anniversary.
Visitors were encouraged to “discover” Schmalz as part of a guided tour through the company headquarters and production facility; numerous stations offered information alongside the opportunity to participate in activities. The children’s program was a lot of fun and the big bouncy castle was the highlight of the day for our little visitors. The guests spent the day socializing to the sounds of the Böffinger Bauernkapelle and catering was provided at the refreshment stands organized by local restaurants. All proceeds from the beverage sales were donated to Mundo do Amor e.V., whose members served as the catering staff on Family Day.
