Vacuum Tube Lifter JumboErgo Allows Horizontal and Vertical Handling of Solar Modules

Somont GmbH, in Umkirch, Germany is a world-wide supplier for stringers (soldering systems for connecting solar cells) with built-in testing units, lay-up systems and fully automatic systems for interconnection.

Their expertise, gained over decades, enables the company to master highly complex automation solutions themselves. The RAPID and CERTUS stringers are the realization of Somont's cutting-edge high-speed soldering and handling concept.

During production, an employee checks the quality of every solar module. Faulty modules are rejected and placed onto a pallet. This is done manually, with a weight of 17 kg each, handling the modules requires a great deal of physical exertion.

The vacuum tube lifter JumboErgo with double suction pad allows a correspondingly gentle lifting of the solar modules. The vacuum tube lifter JumboErgo has a pneumatic swiveling unit, which allows jolt-free swiveling by 90° and is used to place the solar modules onto the upright delivery pallet. This way, the solar modules are not damaged when they are moved.
Used together with a column-mounted slewing crane SK, the vacuum tube lifter becomes the ideal handling system. The column-mounted slewing crane SK is extremely easy to move and features a special bush bearing at the pivot bearing. The 270° swivel angle provides for an exceptionally large working area.
