The Vacuum Tube Lifter JumboErgo with Multiple Suction Pad Facilitates the Handling of Unstable Cardboard Boxes

The Xaver Schneider company is based in Mengen, Germany. For more than 140 years, they have produced high-quality promotional umbrellas with individual printing under the brand name of “Schneider Werbeschirme.” Apart from umbrellas, the company also sells flags, banners, and umbrella stands.

The umbrella stands weigh between 20 and 65 kg and are purchased from an external supplier. Order picking is done in Mengen. During this process, the umbrella stands, which are packaged in cardboard boxes, must be moved from a storage pallet to the pallet that will be sent to the customer. In the past, this work was usually done by two employees. In particular, the physical strain was the main reason for purchasing a vacuum tube lifter.

In combination with a Compact multiple suction pad, the vacuum tube lifter JumboErgo 65 provided them a solution for moving the somehow unstable cardboard boxes. The multiple suction pad system adapts perfectly to the shape of the cardboard boxes and thereby provides optimum safety during handling. Compared to their previous work method, handling the cardboard boxes with the ergonomically designed vacuum tube lifter is much easier now. It only requires one person, and the work is not physically demanding. The application is complemented by the column-mounted slewing crane SK, which has a jib of 5,000 mm that provides a sufficient travel path. It is also impressive that they use the vacuum tube lifter to order pick more than 3,000 metric tons each year.
