Handling Blocks of Cheese with the vacuum tube lifter Jumbo Ergo

The Leupolz Emmental cheese factory is a cooperative consisting of 170 farmers. At the company headquarters in Leupolz near Wangen, Germany, an annual total of 39 million liters of milk from farms in the hills of the Allgäu are processed into various milk products, such as Allgäu Emmental, Allgäu alpine cheese, hard cheese products, and butter.

Order picking the blocks of cheese, which weigh up to 100 kg and measure 800 x 600 x 220 mm, used to require at least two people, plus a forklift driver. The firm then purchased a vacuum tube lifter from Schmalz. Their main reason for buying the lifting device was to increase productivity.

The vacuum tube lifter JumboErgo 110 was designed for horizontal handling of workpieces weighing as much as 110 kg. The vacuum tube lifter allows for easy, efficient handling of blocks of cheese by one person alone. This constitutes a personnel savings of approximately 50%, thereby increasing productivity. The stainless-steel version conforms to high standards of hygiene and is an ideal handling system for the food industry. The wall-mounted slewing crane WK ensures maximum use of the working area. It has a swivel angle of 180° and a 4,000-mm-long aluminum jib.
