The Vacuum Tube Lifter JumboErgo Rationalizes Order Picking in a Tobacco Factory

The Spanish company CETARSA was founded in 1987. CETARSA is a state-owned company of the tobacco industry in Spain. Its aims are purchasing, processing, blending, treating, and marketing tobacco for the national and international smokeless tobacco industries.

CETARSA has several factories, where correct order picking plays an important role. The packages of bundled tobacco plants, which weigh more than 40 kg, used to be moved by hand. The amount of personnel that were needed and the desire to ease the strain on the employees were reason enough to convert to automatic lifting aids.

Now multiple vacuum tube lifters JumboErgo 85 ensure that the aforementioned aims are achieved. JumboErgo is suitable for lifting loads of up to 85 kg. At CETARSA, packages with bundled tobacco plants are moved from the production line or from roller belts into wire mesh boxes. The vacuum tube lifters JumboErgo which are used in their operation are equipped with an FM double suction pad, which makes it possible to move the load even if the packages do not completely cover the suction pad. Only one person is needed to transport the packages, which weigh more than 40 kg.

In order to use the vacuum tube lifters JumboErgo, the halls are equipped with several aluminum crane systems SRA, which provide even load distribution across all load-bearing rollers, in addition to optimum load-bearing capacity. This prevents the trolley from tilting, even when driven “diagonally”. The large working area that is gained by using the crane system ensures maximum flexibility and makes it possible to use the system throughout the entire production hall.
