Course Concept

The vacuum technician course by Schmalz provides a well-grounded overview over the functions and areas of application for vacuum components, as well as the design of complex vacuum systems. The course includes two sequential modules. Each section of the course is supervised by a trained instructor with long-term experience in the automation sector. Stimulating teaching methods, such as interactive presentations, industry-related case studies and intensive practical workshops, define the course sequence.

Qualifying Certificate of Completion

Participants can sit for a final exam on the last day of the course; on the basis of that exam, the certificate of completion "Certified Vacuum Technician (Schmalz)" is awarded.

Course Content

The course consists of two modules, each of which is taught during two training days. The two modules cover the following content:

Module 1:

Function and Application of Vacuum Components

• Basic Knowledge of Vacuum Technology


• Function of vacuum components


• Examples for application of vacuum components


• Workshops for practical enhancement of the topics studied

Module 2:

Design & Optimization of Vacuum Systems

• Wiring Symbols and Wiring Diagrams in Vacuum Technology


• Methodical mastering of systems design


• Solving of problems and searching for errors in a vacuum system


• Workshops for practical enhancement of the topics studied

The course is particularly geared towards plant managers, production managers, designers, maintenance personnel and service technicians who would like to obtain well-grounded knowledge about the function and application of vacuum systems.
