History
Schmalz Inc. was founded in February of 1999. Before this time, Schmalz vacuum products were sold through wholesale distributors (Schunk 1995 – Feb. 1999 and Spanco for the vacuum handling systems from 1990-1996).
Prior to 1990, Schmalz sold products into the North American market directly to interested consumers who happened to visit the European trade shows.
Some of the first vacuum products developed back in 1982-84 (vacuum tables) were sold to manufacturers in the USA. In fact, the first vacuum bench sold in the USA went to a cabinet maker in Las Vegas in 1984, and today that product is still in use. This is quite a testimony to the quality built into the comprehensive Schmalz product line.
Today, Schmalz provides a complete range of vacuum products that include Vacuum Components, used primarily for pick and place, robotic end effectors, packaging / palletizing and assembly; Ergonomic Vacuum Lifting Systems, used primarily for material handling; and Vacuum Clamping Systems, used primarily to clamp wood and plastics on dry running CNC machines. Look under the product information tab for more information about the complete range of Schmalz products.
Our complete product line provides solutions to problems and meets requirements across a broad spectrum of industries, such as: Food and beverage processing, medical, appliance manufacturing, woodworking, metalworking, automotive, electronics, chemical, cd/dvd production, packaging, palletizing, plastic injection molding, glass handling, printing and more… Through participation in these industries Schmalz has assembled a product line that is unparalleled by any other supplier of vacuum products in the world.
Since its inception in February 1999 Schmalz Inc. has concentrated on building a competent network of sales engineers, independent sales representatives and technical distributors that can assist in solving your vacuum handling problems. Today Schmalz Inc. has a complete sales network covering the entire North American market.
In May 2009 Schmalz Inc. takes one more step into a bright future and moves into its newly purchased 20,000sf headquarters in Raleigh, NC. Schmalz shows financial strength and confidence in its future by making the biggest investment in its history. The new company home, located in North-Raleigh, is a two-story building with 20,000sf of office and warehouse space.
